Great Grandma Duprau

We lost a special someone in our family as of late. Ivan’s great grandmother passed away yesterday. Birdie Duprau was an avid reader of Ivan’s blog and she looked forward to new entries, featuring his news and updated photos. A day before her death, we were able to see her over the Skype on line video camera. She marveled at his laughter and was pleased to see him in action. On the same day she was given the picture that we had framed for her while my parents were in town visiting. In her home, the walls, bookcases and any free surface are designed to photos of people in her family. She was so thrilled to have a picture of Ivan, the very picture posted in this entry. My feelings of loss are bettered by the thought that we were all able to see her before she was hospitalized.
Grama was elated to hear the news of Ivan’s birth and she called us on every single birth month afterwards, marking his advancement. Grama, if Ivan were in your presence on the last day you saw him, he would have likely grabbed for your seeing eyeglasses and lurched forward to rub his toothy mouth on your cheek. Thank you for your long life and for bringing up my father to be such an incredible character. Thank you for your support and interest while I took on the roll as a mother. May you rest in peace, knowing that stories of you, as the cherisher for our branches of the family tree, shall consistently be told at family reunions to come.
